Next Week's Program
March 31: What do you know about wind energy? Amanda Duzak from Clean Currents.com will fill us in on how to save money on your PEPCO bill. Amanda is a long time environmentally active citizen, having worked for a number of environmental organizations. She is now an entrepeneur working for the for-profit business Clean Currents, an energy-broker that sells wind and solar electricity to individuals, churches and commercial businesses at less cost than traditional PEPCO electricity. This is good for the earth and good for your pocket book.

It was good to have Father George Wilkinson, and Mrs. Maria Bovich, Principal of Holy Redeemer Catholic School give their views on Catholic School education in Prince George’s County. Carl Jankowski, Vice Principal operated the lap top presentation. She told us that Holy Redeemer School opened in 1931 and constantly needs updating. The computer labs are limited and the school needs more computers. The school offers Pre-K – 8th grade. Language instruction is offered in both Italian and Spanish. One hundred percent of the graduates are accepted into the school of their choice. To keep tuition at reasonable rates, she said the school depends on parent volunteers and fundraisers. Cost per student is $5,100 for Catholic students and $7,000 for non-Catholic students. This compares to $9,000 to attend public schools in Prince George’s Co. Declining enrollments have caused St. Marks and St. Hugh’s to be closed. Thanks for an effective presentation.
